Subject areas for which there is considerable expertise in both locations and which are to be discussed in particular during the collaboration are:
- solution of geometric problems in secondary schools
- problem solving strategies in stochastic systems
- modelling and application problems
- use of new technology as heuristic tools
The collaboration shall occur by linking research and a practical approach and shall contribute to the teacher training at both locations to a great extent.
The following forms of collaboration are planned within the project:
- collaboration of lecturers of mathematical education from Berlin (HU) and Budapest (ELTE) in research and teaching (research stays, collaborative workshops, guest lectures, collaborative publications and lectures at conferences)
- mutual exchange of student teachers of mathematics with objectives set which are scientific and practical for schools (short and medium-length study stays, work experience in schools)
- collaborative support of Master theses and dissertations
- comparative testing of concepts of problem solving in mathematics classrooms in Hungarian and German school classes
- mutual development of teaching concepts and materials; cooperation with the Hungarian Geomatech project in which the Hungarian partners are involved
- comparison of the teacher training in Germany and Hungary
